Note that if you have experienced emotional trauma, struggle with psychosis, or have had experiences with being restricted from breathing (near-drowing / suffocation), then breath awareness meditations of this kind are not always helpful.  You may want to consult with your physician, therapist and/or psychiatrist before trying this type of meditation.
